Executor Estate
Settlement Services

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is difficult enough without the added demands of having been named an executor.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the duties involved, are unsure how to proceed, or simply lack the expertise required, we are here to help.

How We Can Help

Settling an estate is normally a complicated undertaking, especially when you are also grieving the loss of a close family member or friend. As an executor, you are responsible for settling an estate according to the deceased’s wishes or if no will is available, by intestate succession. There are numerous tasks to complete and multiple organizations to deal with-including beneficiaries, legal advisors and tax authorities such as Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

If you have been appointed as an executor, but do not feel that you can administer the estate or need help with certain responsibilities/duties, Jerry Grossman Accounting Services can offer you knowledgeable support and a variety of services, including assistance with all your responsibilities or only those you specifically choose through our Executor’s Estate Settlement Services. As an Executor Assistant, we will assume as much or as little of the responsibilities as you require, while you continue to retain the final decision-making authority.

Services

We handle some of your responsibilities while you ultimately make all the final decisions. Ideal for individuals who:

  • Have been appointed executor and are now required to act;
  • Need help with certain aspects of their responsibilities/duties;
  • Find their family situation challenging and need the sensitivity and expertise of an impartial third party in order to facilitate the communications;
  • Lack the time, knowledge or desire to administer an estate;
  • Live outside of the city, province or country where the estate is located; or
  • Want to retain final decision-making authority while benefiting from professional proficiency.

Solutions

Administrative Solution

You remain responsible to determine the value of the property and personal effects of the estate and for communicating directly with beneficiaries. Jerry Grossman Accounting Services helps “behind the scenes,” taking much of the administrative burden off your shoulders by providing consolidated estate accounts and statements, assisting with asset valuation and a formal inventory.

Select the Best Solution

You choose which services and responsibilities you need help with, including but not limited to, evaluating assets, applying for death benefits, collecting insurance proceeds, or drafting letters to third parties. The knowledge of Jerry Grossman Accounting Services can also be valuable for the challenging work of preparing final income tax returns for the deceased and the estate.
